Re: My first corn snake!
I am so excited for you Willow. What a beautiful gal! Btw, how old is she? I think it's funny that you promised yourself that you wouldn't buy a reptile, but now you are going to have 2 more That sounds like something I would do. I actually working on my 3rd guy in few months. That would be 3 snakes in 6 months. Not too bad

Re: My first corn snake!
I'm not entirely sure how old Glacier Mist is. I know she must be at least 4 because she is huge, and thick. I weighed her last night, and she is 560 grams 5 days after eating! The male I'll be getting tomorrow (I'm thinking of naming him Dante's Inferno if he's as red in the flesh as he looks in his photos) is a year old. I really like these little guys- so much potential, so many colors! But I still love my GTP, ETB, carpets and balls. Nothing like an 8-foot carpet curling on your shoulders to make your day!

Re: My first corn snake!
If I can find a nice striped one, I probably will- but I think I'd need to get a whole other pair, isn't stripe recessive?

Re: My first corn snake!
yup it is.... Stripes are very nice, the trait really seems to bring out the color in alot of morphs. Striped ANERYS or butters are my favorite as far as stripes go. Motley Sunglows(amel's) or pretty much any motley I like.. I find corns addictive lol...

Re: My first corn snake!
Ok, well I just brought the male home, and he is significantly smaller than I expected he'd be, but not the end of the world. He was $60 and that included a large water dish that usually run for $20-25 and a climbing tree vine thing that usually is $7-10. My fiance likes him, but we'll probably be on the lookout for a breeding age male at the next reptile show. I'll probably go for a snow, so I can make snow babies and then later on breed this guy to get albinos het snow. Here he is:

nice looking amel... How much does he weigh? He doesnt seem just plumb tiny but a smaller younger male around 2 or so can usually breed bigger females just fine...

Re: My first corn snake!
He only weighs 110g, and is 2 feet long. I read that males need to be 200-300g to breed. Is that right?

Re: My first corn snake!
Now you'll have 3 new ones! I know it's going to be a while, but the babies will be beauties!
I absolutely love my corn. At first, he was soooo shy, but now he's full of personality. He's a hypo red striped(Fluffy). I can't wait to get a boa. I am working on trying to find a Hogg Island close by. Corns are fun, but I also would like a boa that will just wrap himself around my arm and just chill.
