Re: snake bleeding

Was the blood coming from her vent? What substrate is she on and when did you last feed her?

Re: snake bleeding

Hmmm. When was the last time she passed a stool? She might be impacted, in which case a vet visit would be necessary.

Re: snake bleeding

Her vent shouldn't open when you pick her up. It should remain firmly closed. The only times the vent should open is when the snake is urinating/defecating or when the snake is musking in defense. I would keep an eye on it and if you see bleeding again get her to a good herp vet.

Re: snake bleeding

Did she just shed?
Vents sometimes open up when an animal is being held as a defensive posture to squirt you with urine. Sometimes they get you wet, sometimes they don't. It's fairly common.

Re: snake bleeding

it do seems she be in defence mode until i let her know shes going to be picked up her vent be open when i pick her up then close back tight in about 3sec after holding her but that behavior does always happen sometimes her vent never opens.she didnt shed in a while but seems like shes about to.

Re: snake bleeding

ok, well then the open vent is probably a defense, preparation for musking you. Keep an eye out for any more blood or abnormal discharge
