Re: hello everyone

Welcome to the forum! Snake-keeping is a lot of fun, isn't it? I've been keeping snakes for about 30 yrs and started catching them a decade or so before that, as I was always fascinated by them. I currently only have a ball python (BP) but have had quite a few others, not including the Kenyan sand boa. They do make great pets, though I like almost any animal for a pet!

So you have St. George's Cross instead of the Union Jack for your flag . . . ??? Curiosity killed the cat, I know, but I'm curious anyway!

Anyway, welcome to the forum! We have members from all over the world, all united by a common interest in herps!

Good for you! My DH & I are a Host Family for international students at our university, and this year we've had a student from Yorkshire. She has been a lot of fun! Her parents came to visit over their spring break, so we got to meet them, too, which was lovely.

Catching snakes is great fun! I started catching snakes when I was a little girl, much to my mother's dismay! She was quite phobic of snakes, but I never have been. I taught my sons to catch snakes, too, and we've had a number of WC (wild caught) snakes over the years, including venomous ones, though I'm not the one who caught them; my middle son did that. We live in the part of the U.S. where copperheads & rattlers are common.

I'm one of those crazy people who stops her car and moves snakes & turtles off the road when I see them basking or walking on the road. Of course, usually the snakes move themselves if they can. I'm always so sad to see animals that have been hit.

Anyway, welcome to the forum--it's great to have you!

Re: hello everyone

here in Ohio i never ever see any snakes on the roads either dead or alive. we do have a huge black rat snake that lives under the bushes in the front of my house and all around the house in different places. it is rediculous biggest one i have ever seen and basks on a walkway we have. it is so cool.

Re: hello everyone

Welcome Olly...I know we had a great sand boa conversation, and I am glad you're here. I am very happy for you - getting another snake...sooo jealous--I 'd have 20 if I could.
