Unhappy Omg!!! Here We Go Again!!

i dont understand why dremora wont eat! she went for almost 2 months without eating and ate a very small hopper the other day so i was soooo happy! we bought 2 more today and now she wont eat again! i will wait a few more days and try again but its very depressing and i can tell shes losing weight and getting a little peaked looking. can someone here give me some advice. i have put her in the tank and removed all but the water dish and put a towel over it to make it dark. but i check on her like every 5 min or so but she still wont eat...the other day took 25 min but she finally ate that hopper but this time after a half hour i took the hopper away and put it back in its cage. i even tried dangling it in dremoras face for like 15 min. by its tail but she wont eat! i am at a loss on what to do now! please help me if you can..any help is appreciated!! thanks

Re: Omg!!! Here We Go Again!!

it could be to soon to have tried to feed her after going that long with out food, i'd wait another 3 days and try again. and jsut keep her on small food till she gets her aappitite back to normal or till she's looking for more it'll be a slow increase to get her back up to normal eating habbits just takes time

You have to be patient; one of the biggest things with keeping balls is to not stress over skipped meals. She ate once and thats great, sometimes stomachs need to slowely get used to having meals in them. I would put her on a weekly feeding scheduale and just leave her alone for awhile.

Exclamation Re: Omg!!! Here We Go Again!!

when you say leave alone do you mean not hold her and talk to her? i will if thats waht you mean but she seems to like being held and talked too. shes very docile and sweet tempered. but the small hoppers sound good so i will keep that up if i can. we bought 2 small ones but he dont get paid again til 2 weeks so those are dremoras food til then. i didnt think she may not eat again when i bought them. dang................... ok i wont stress and i will try again in a few days..i was planning that anyway. but the hopper is gonna grow while i do that so i hope it wont be too big. i havent gotten dremora trained ot frozen thaw or fresh killed causea she aint been eating. and trying to get her to eat to me is not the time to introduce food shes not used to..kinda a catch 22 situation...ya know. ok thankes fullofquestions and daemon..apprecciate ya!

Yes, do not open the cage unless you absolutely need too. In reality this snake could care less about you and would be happy just to be left alone (snakes dont have developed ears, they cant hear when your talking to them. A lot of people place human and dog emotions onto them when they dont have them. Most balls really dont need to be trained, just about all of mine I have gotten to take right away. In the wild its unknown how much actual scavanging balls and other snakes do but they do do it so feeding on already dead prey isnt a totally new thing to them; sometimes they even they prefer the less threatening dead, they love it when its really warm.
