getting second turtle

i have a 4 inch female slider in a 50 gallon long tank plenty of room. can i get a second slider in the same tank, i no it has to be the same size im just wondering if it should be another female or should it be a male.

need to know asap so i can adopt one of the turtles in my area

Personally I wouldnt, however many people do without incident (I would be cautious about putting a pair together and not sure how two males would handle each other). If you do decide to though the new one must be quarentined for at least a few months, you dont want to put a sick turtle in with your established healthy one and it can often take months for symptoms to show. Also its best for the new turtle to get settled in without the other one there. Remember too that the 50 gallon may not be big for even just one adult slider, definatly not two adults.
