Lamp Dimmer?!?!?!

Hey all,

Some of you may know that I've been considering wiring some heat tape to a dimmer because I am unable to find any "lamp dimmers" that just plug in where I'm at.

I've checked my local Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Walmart, and Zellers, and none of them carry frigging lamp dimmers!

Just to be sure it wasn't my own inept shopping skills, I called each of those places on the phone yesterday and asked to be put through to both their lighting and hardward sections, and then asked if they carry lamp dimmers. Every place acted like I was speaking latin. One place even said "there's no such thing".

Anyway, before I actually wired this up, I turned to the internet for one last attempt to find a lamp dimmer. I found several American sites to order them from, but NO Canadian sources. I really don't want to order one from the states because the shipping costs more than the darn dimmer!

Can anyone direct me to a Canadian online source of lamp dimmers, please?

I really want the plug in type rather than wiring one up, that way, shoud I decide to switch to a thermostat later on I can just unplug the dimmer, and plug the heat tape into a Helix or whatever!

If anyone knows of a Canadian online store that I can purchase lamp dimmers from, it would be very much appreciated if you could point me in their direction. Thank you.

EDIT: If anyone is curious, this is to be used for a small rack that will be able to house 6 adult Ball Pythons.

Nevermind all, FINALLY found a place in town that stocks them. A lighting specialty store that sells nothing but... lights. Go figure. Still, t'is a tad of a shame that NONE of the big department or hardward stores around here carry them!

Here is very common can find them in Home depot , Canadian tire and Ikea. Ikea to be the best because ten dallors cheaper and very well build. I have it for quite a while and work great.

We have light dimmers all over the stores here in Toronto. Maybe in North Bay it is so dark no one ever thought of dimming the lights ...
