Arrow Housing one then more kingsnake

Anyone read the artical by Bob Applegate in the Reptiles USA annual? In it he states that he has no problem with housing multiple Kings in colonys of 1.4.

i don't have the artical infront of me but i'll post more on it later.

I've talked to him and others and while it CAN be done and maybe without incidence, I would advise against it. I mean, why take a risk like that? Saving cage space is not worth it to me. And I can keep an eye on each individual. Feeding also becomes problematic- i.e separating, etc. If they are housed seperately, and one becomes ill, it does not necessarily mean that all will become ill or have to be treated. Housed together, who knows? Bob is one of the most respected in the hobby obviously, but I doubt I'll ever house my kings together except to breed.

Do you remember what size enclosure he uses. Maybe with a large enough enclosure there would be a less likely rate of "incidents."

Robert states that in a few articles and in his milk snake book. He has links to his articles on his web site....

Actually I don't think it's a size issue, it's a food issue. I have no plans on putting any of our kings together except for breeding purposes. Was just hoping to stir up some conversation. unfortunetly I've been really busy and haven't had a chance to do any typing, thanks for posting the link cranwill, saves my fingers of quoting from the reptiles annual

I´ve kept my three Lampropeltis getula californiae, desert phase the first 10 months of their lives in separate terrariums.
After this I have kept them together in a triangular terrarium of about 150 x 100 x 100 (floor) and 55 cm high.
Never had any trouble with them. Always am very attentive during the feeding.
It is one male and two females.

On this moment they are, together, in brumation.

WOW!!!! That's an incredible set up Alphonzo. Did you make that up yourself? Is that actually one of your snakes climbing the walls?
