All the paper work and permits are up to the exporter. You will be resposible only the payment of duty and shipping and cost of the animal. Assuming ofcourse that it is legal to bring this animal into the country. It's quite easy, but if it's a CITIES animal, then the wait for the paper work to clear on the exporters end is brutal. It can take quite along time. I've been waiting probably 3 months now on some snakes from Oklahoma.

I think in the U.S. the paper work costs a couple hundred bucks. In Canada it's way cheaper. $30 for private purposes, and $50 for business I believe. The Canadian government moves alot faster than the American government too as far as processing the export permits (CITIES) goes.

CITES and the appropriate paperwork and inspections are under $100 US. It's the time spent getting it all in order that will kill you.

In May '05 US Fish and Wildlife increased the fees on CITES from $25 to $100. Inspections will cost around $75 so you are looking at around $175 US for the permits.
