OMG.. what a way to start the day. I can't even begin to describe the sadness that has just come over me. Although I wasn't really close to Jeff, he was a super great guy, someone I always looked forward to talking to at reptile shows. What happened??? People his age don't just spontaneously pass away...

I am sorry to hear this. He seemed to be a promising young herper who in his young age had quite a bit of knowledge.

My condolences to his friends and family.

I want to personally thank everyone for sharing their thoughts and memories of Jeff here and on the other sites with threads dealing with this tragedy.

When I initially posted the news, I didn't elaborate on the circumstances out of respect for the Terborg family and their privacy. After spending some time with them yesterday, Jeff's family were adamant that they wish the matter shared.

For reasons still unclear to us, Jeff took his own life.

There weren't any visible signs or indications leading up to it. To anyone that knew him, nothing appeared to be wrong. Without exception, we are all wishing we had seen something that would have tipped us off and allowed some measure of intervention before Jeff made his decision.

He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him and we are truly hoping that, in sharing the fact that he took his own life, more effort will be made to address and prevent this disturbingly common conclusion to so many young lives.

It saddens me even more to know the circumstances now. Normally I view those who take their own lives with contempt, but in this case I just can't.

I will be making a donation to Kids Help Phone in his memory. It's too late to save Jeff, but maybe with a donation, I can help prevent this from happening to someone else.

This is incredibly sad. Although I didn't know Jeff personally, we had discussed Savannah monitors via pm, and he was a great guy to talk to, very passionate and extremely set on giving the animals in his care the absolute best he could. There are too few people like him around. My deepest condolences to his family, and friends.
