Question about water

Well a few weeks ago my dad installed a water softener as well as a water purifier for the kitchen. So all the water in the washrooms and stuff is the softened water and basically the only water that is totally fine to drink is the purified water in the kitchen.

Question, is it not a good idea to use the softened water for the reptiles? I just ask because it’s a hassle to go downstairs with a ton of dishes when I’ve got a washroom in my room.

Thanks!

It depends on what kind of water softner he has installed. if it is a salt based water softner, then you need to find out what kind of salt is used in it. If it is a resin softner then you may have a problem with excess sodium in your water. Find out what kind of media is used in the filter and I will do my best to find out what the potential problems will be.

If the filter in your kitchen is a resin filter (which it most likely is), then if it is fine for you to drink then it should be fine for your reptiles.
