Enough heat?

Hi, I was just wondering if 90-95 is to hot for a bp using a UTH and if using a ceramic heat emitter is worth it to heat the ambient temp. I made his hide now into a humidity box so when he wants to hide he gets the humidity. I put moss in his hide. Could this fry my snake?

Thanks

No. That sounds good. 95 may be bit high, but shouldnt be a problem at all from what im told. I actually here most keepers of large amounts of BP's keep them all at those temps.

I keep all of my BP's between 93 and 95, but with no humid hide. I've had no troubles at all.

as far as the hot spot, that sounds fine... (UTH)... it would not be ideal if the snake only had access to those temperatures though.. it needs to be able to cool off if it wants.. I assume the UTH does not cover the entire floor area of the enclosure right? Also, ambient temps are probably ok if the hot spots can reach 90F-95F, but just to be sure, ambient air should not go below 70F and 80F for daytime temps would be adequate...

you must mist or have a room humidifier right Mykee? I don't have any humid hides either, but I keep my room humidity at 55% to 60%... I barely ever mist now since I got the humidifier for the snake room and all the balls shed perfectly...

Good luck,
Bristen.

I set my cage up with a warm hide, a mulch bowl in the middle, a cool hide and a water bowl. The mulch bowl is a wonderful way to ensure good sheds and you don't have to worry with overall tank humidity, *although some snakes won't use the bowl*. You can put wet cypress mulch in a gladware bowl and cut a hole big enough in the top for your bp to crawl in. (Make sure all edges are blunt). My girl has never had a bad shed, goes in when she needs and also uses it as a litter box.
