The best book you can possibly get takes 3-5 years to read, lots of observations, and resides right in your very cage!

Watch your snake, use common sense, and apply previously-known knowledge. (this is assuming you have a prior knowledge of snakes, no matter how small).

If you know the temp gradients, the preferred prey items, and the cage size, what else is there that a book can tell you? You have the framework for all the success you need. Patience, awareness, and keen observation is the only thing you really need now.

Well basically the only thing id read is the breeding section, because I know the gist, but I dont know where to start.

Its a bit early to be asking, but once they get the preferred weight, do I need to start fattening the female up? Do I introduce the male to the female, or vice versa? Things like that.

Everyone i've talked to has told me good things about The Reproductive Husbandry of Captive Boas and Pythons. IT's a bit more pricy, but I got a look at it and it's a big book with a ton of info. Someone in the classifieds is waiting on a shipment of them and i'm picking one up as soon as it gets in.

The Ball Python Manual is the typical book everyone gets. It's a fine book but it will leave you with as many questions as almost any other. Get it and read it. You won't regret it. But you also will not be a BP expert by the end of it.

I suggest just reading everything you can on them (take some with a grain of salt) for the next few months... every book, every care sheet and every post in this forum. Do that AND take Jeff's advice and you should be well on your way.

Get the BP video and you won't need to do anything else. It will tell you everything about breeding.

What Jeff said. I have the video, watched it a million times, and I still don't know it all, but I know a hell of a lot more than I did.

I have the following books:

- The Guide to Owning a Ball Python (John Coborn)
- Reptile Keeper's Guides Ball Pythons Facts & Advice on Care and Breeding (Bartlett & Bartlett)

I also have a series of books on Pythons and snakes in general. If you are interested I can give you a complete list.
