Phants are really aggressive
I learned a great lesson tonight and I thought I'd share.
You read care sheets on phants and most say having two males with a female is okay and will stimulate mating behaviours. Well it does give them that edge to mate but they are really aggressive.
I've been making room for more cresties so I places a 2.1 in a 10 gallon tank. Both males persued the female throughout the tank cornering her from above and bellow branches. One male made his approach to lick the female when suddenly the male from the top pounced on him and they fell to the ground. They started scrapping so I thought I'd watch for a bit before I seperated them. The screams were so loud. They sounded similar to the Nazguls from the lord of the rings.
While biting each other at the neck and tails one got a hold of the others foot. He continued biting further up until he had consumed the whole limb. The poor guy didn't have a chance and I'm pretty sure he would have lost his arm if I did seperate them quickly.
The loser is okay he had an arm covered in gue. Tomorrow he'll get his own home with hopes of a future mate. Don't be fooled by their passive appearance they are little devils!

Uroplatus can be as aggressive as any geckos. I had two pairs of U. fimbriatus, separate cages but they could see each other if they really twisted their necks 'just so'. The males would hiss and scream at each other, mouth wide open as it could get. Sometimes they'd even launch themselves at the screen door, all the while making the most blood curdling scream you could imagine. I ended up moving them to different rooms, not just for their own peace of mind, but the screaming was absolutely terrifying (specially if it woke you up at night ) It's not hard to imagine how the males would attack each other if they got a chance.
