Picky between F/T and F/K?

I am just starting out rat breeding and all of my guys are currently eating F/T rats of various size. Now, since I'll be breeding, it'd just be easier to feed a freshly killed rat instead of freezing and then thawing out one. Do you think they'll get picky about eating F/T if I feed them F/K if I have them available?

To tell you the truth it's really not easier to feed fresh killed over freezing than thawing.

The reason is the rats will only be the size you need for fresh killing for so long. You'll have to wait for another litter if you want fresh killed of the same size.

With freezing you can kill off the entire litter of the size you need which will last longer.

Marisa,

That makes sense. Guess it's time to invest in a small freezer. I share a house with 3 roomates so there isn't a whole lot of space for me to keep frozen rats

LOL Yeah it can be a pain.

My roomates happen to purchase a large garage freezer right around the time I started breeding my own rodents. It has worked out well. I keep a small qauntity in our house freezer, the just go outside when I need more.

As for snakes likely FT or FK, yes some will prefer one or the other but I haven't really found any snakes hard to switch back and forth except ball pythons.

Yeah i'll probably look for a little mini one for out in the garage. We have a tiny house and 4 of us live there + 2 gf's that are there quite a bit. Luckily I have the basement for my room otherwise I'd have no space for all my snakes and rats, heh.
