Solid Oak OK? for snakes

Hey guys, Just a quick question, does anyone know if solid oak inclosers is ok for houseing ball pythons? I hope so because I am almost finish making my new setup and would hate to hear it was a waste of time and money. I will put pics up as soon as it is finished. Unless anyone wants to see them now.

Thanks
Sil

Well, Oak is fine, but it's still a waste of money, unles you really want cages that look like furniture. It's very rarely used because of the high cost, however there are the few that want something really special looking for a display cage. If you're a pet keeper with good reason for a high priced display cage, then Oak ,Walnut or Teak is fine, as is any other wood providing it's well sealed with Epoxy resin or several coats of varathane.

Thanks, I guess it is going to be a display unit, seeing that it would have cost lots of $$$$ if I didn't get the wood for free. Glad to hear it.

Here's what mine look like. I bought them second hand, paid $100 each for them.

They had balls in them but I'll soon be converting them for my Chondros. They are almost 36"Lx13"Wx18"H.
Cheers,
Trevor
