Catigories of reptiles??

Hi, I will be doing a show for my daughter's class next month. I want to ask the kids a few questions..."What makes lizards different from snakes?", " Reptiles are put into catigories what are the (number) catigories?" I can think of 4, am I right? I think there are 5 but not sure what i'm missing. Turtles and Tortises, Lizards, Snakes, and Crocodilians. Do geckos fall under lizards? Are there anymore that I overlooked? or do amphibians belong with the catigories? Thanks for the help.

Also is there any other interesting questions I could ask the children? They are 10-12 years old. this should be fun. I've only done a few shows before always children under 10 so I kept it pretty simple, but I'd like to ask the kids some questions this time since they have done a project on reptiles in school before hand.
I will have these animals at the show.
a leopard gecko
a fat tail gecko.
a bearded dragon.
a uromastyx.
a box turtle
a wood turtle.
a berber skink
a blue tongue skink
an ocellated skink
a crested gecko
a ball python
a corn snake
a kenyon sand boa
a hognose snake
a giant african land snail (just for fun)

What about tuataras? Those weird ancient lizards that are still around I think...

Amphibians are a Class the equivalent level of Reptiles so completely separate - mostly because of life cycle with land and water phases if I remember correctly.

Reptile class is split into Subclasses but the Order level is most straightforward -
1) Testudines - Turtles (includes land and water guys)
2) Rhynchocephalia - the Tuatara is the only beastie in this group
3) Squamata - scaled ones - lizards and snakes
with 3 suborders 1- Sauria (lizards - including geckos but not tuataras that look just like lizards)
2 - Serpentes (snakes)
and 3 - Amphisbaenia (amphisbaenians) - weird worm lizards that I think are different from legless lizards but I am not sure
4) Crocodylia - crocs and alligators.

Maybe someone else can help with more detail - sounds like a fun presentation to give - kids that age know a lot and will keep you on your toes.

Box turtle came from a nearby breeder and the wood turtle came in a trade. Box turtle is an Eastern, wood is a Central American Ornate. She is a sweetie too, loves to be hand fed. Prev. owners spoiled her rotten. lol.

Oh Danielle, how are you? lol, looks like I got busted talking about you. haha! I'd love to take some pictures of the kids, never even thought of it. lol. I won't be able to do it as I'll be presenting, but I could see if I can get the teacher or mabye bring someone with me to get some pictures of the show. That's a great idea. Sweet Pea is doing great btw. She is now eating her salad, crickets and she also accepts low fat dog food once in a while. She looks so funny when she getts the dog food all over her mouth. And she still loves to be hand fed her crickets. Still loves to hide and burrow too. lol. Thanks again for the little sweetie!
