A 50% possible het is an animal that has a 50% chance of carrying the desired trait on one of its two alleles for that trait. An example would be the offspring of a het albino to a normal breeding. Het or heterozygous means that it carries the genetics for the desired trait on one of its two alleles for that trait. An albino has both albino alleles and a het only has one. So when a het is bred to a normal the het passes on only one allele for the albino trait to half of his/her offspring and the other half get the normal allele. The entire litter would look normal but half would carry one albino allele and are het. You can't tell by what they look like if they are het so a baby from this litter would be a 50% het.

With 25% hets it was probably a het to het breeding.

Hope this helps,
