Thermostat question

Ok, I just got my propritonal thermostat from GCSReptiles and I am in the midst of setting it up. Now I know from threads I've read, tape is bad, any tape is bad. But I'm trying to figure out how to attach the probe to the bottom of the cage so that I can accuratly monitor tempatures.

Now someone suggested to me that I should use foil tape, that kinda threw me because tape is tape isn't it? Foil tape would be just as dangrous as scotch tape would it not? So my question is what do people use to fasten there thermostat probes to the bottom of their cages?

Don't use tape.

Put something heavy on it like a rock or a piece of wood. I use Rubbermaids so its easy to just poke 2 holes and then fasten a twist-tie through them and around the probe. If using a wood cage, then I'd just buy a screw in hook. If using an aquarium, I'd buy some fish.

Yes, keep all sticky adhesive tape out of herp tanks as it always ends up on the herps like flypaper.
For probes and branches and many other things that need holding in place within cages use:
Hot Glue gun....greatest herp tool ever. You can get the little hobby craft ones from dollarama for a buck and that even includes glue sticks.
If you ever have to remove it, its no big deal, just reheat the glue, or cut it away with a knife or side cutters.
Its non toxic, no odour and sets in a couple seconds

It's a rubbermaid setup, but I like that Glue idea Stockwell, I'm going to use that.

But yea when he suggested it, I didn't think it was a good idea, hence why I'm here asking for alternatives.

Hot glue for plastics and wood, silicone for glass and some woods. For sure.
