Australian Import/Export

Just a general inquiry. I already know about the special licensing that you need in Australia to have reptiles. However my question is what is the procedure to get snakes from say a Canadian breeder to an Australian customer?

The only reason I ask is that when I go to study abroad in Australia, I have a feeling it will be very hard, if it's even possible to bring my snakes over. But I'd like to know the process anyways.

There is NO way you can bring snakes there most likely.

They cannot run the risk of a non native species establishing itself there. That's pretty much what I have been told.

I have heard that it IS possible to import/export fauna from australia, however the process takes over a year and is a huge pain in the butt.

Again, this is only what i've heard, i've not seen or heard any actual facts to support or deny this.

So nothing ever happened with that proposed re-regulation of the export rules? (article from 98, posted recently in a thread)
