Those are some huge boas!

This girl is about 8 feet long and 35+ pounds.... A friend of ours has her now and it should be interesting to see just how much bigger she'll get...

You could easily get your boa onto rats. rats are like steroids for boas, get a few rats intonit and it will explode in size. find a size of rat that is 1.5-2 times the size of the largest part of your snake. the meal should leave a bump when finished.

hope this helps you grow a monster.

My baby boas took adult mice for their third meal, Dialblo. As for the stairmaster, I bought him as an adult, but he loves his rats. Don't count on getting a male boa above 7 feet, or even 6 feet for that matter. So many other factors come into play, such as the genetics. For example, I have a 2 year old boa constrictor that is approaching 5.5 feet... but he's from an 11 foot mother and an 8 foot father, so he's genetically predisposed to becoming HUGE.

Anyway, up your boa to adult mice or rat fuzzies for sure.

so invic, u think i should juss start orderin adult mice for my lil guy instead of "small adults"? he was still takin hoppers.. i got my snake from Henry Piorun ( Mission, BC ), i think it was from his dec 2003 hatchlings. anyone no wut the parents from dat batch was like? and ya the hoppers i give this lil guy ( Romeo ) leaves a small lil bump at the end.. do u think he would be able to take on large adults? i wanted to get a female at first.. but i heard those COULD grow up to 14 feet.. so back then i thought they USUALLY did.. so i decided to go wit a male which hit 10 feet MAX.. but now dat ive been readin the forms for about 2 months i find dat the 10foot males and 14foot females are nearly impossible.. but its ok.. i love my lil male hes still the koolest pet around now i juss wanna no if i could get em to like 7-8 feet.. without power feedin.. cause i want this lil guy to live as long as he can and also be healthy.. (not obese)
sry for rambling.. but thanx in advance for the advice/help

A "little bit" of a lump is NOT sufficient for boas. It should leave a lump so significant that you can see it from 20 feet away.

14 foot boas have NEVER been proven in captivity. The aforementioned 11 footer that gave birth to my beautiful lil' guy is considered FREAKISHLY large for boas. Even Tom's 9.5 footer is on the way big side of the scale. I have an adult female here, and she's barely 6.5 feet.

Realistically, even the boa is fed properly right from birth, you can count on 6 feet for males, 7 for females. Anything bigger than this is definitely outside the norm, and anything above 10 or 11 feet is nearly unheard of, it's so rare.

i just got my boa a week or so ago and the guy said she will be two years old on thanksgiving. i just measured her and she is 45.5 inches long. the guy said he fed her two adult mice once a week. is this a normal length for her? or is she shorter than normal bc he fed her mice instead of rats?

btw, ive fed her once since getting her and i fed her a medium rat and plan to give her rats form now on.

duroo,
That's a bit small on average (but not by too much), however she is obviously underfed in the past. She should start to put on size now that she's being fed properly Look out, these guys grow like crazy!

reptiguy... any heavy feeding regime is not really healthy. The best bet for a strong, healthy and long lived snake is to keep it on a normal schedule: 1 appropriate prey item every 7, 10 or 14 days depending on the age/size of the snake.

Hi Ken,

Her circumference is 19-3/4". The previous owners of Xena said they only feed her 2 large rats every 2 weeks.
They got her from a importer when she was 4' long that was 10 year ago. So that would make me believe she is 11 to 12 year old.
You have a pretty nice looking male there too.

Take care
Tom
