Question Starburst has a burn....??

Hey all,
While holding my 10 month old ball python i noticed she had a dark redish brown oval a few inches down from her head it feels more rough then the rest of her. I think it might be a burn but i'm not sure as non of my snakes have ever been burnt and i'm not sure what I should be looking for. If it is a burn how should I treat it, it dosen't look to serious but i'm not sure.
Thx alot
Kayla

hrrm- judging from the number of view and lack of replies, im gonna guess you need to post a pic before anyone can really tell you.

Burns would need the cause of the burn removed and polysporin ointment, but it may not be a burn, if it feels odd, it could be a section of retained shed. Is this on the ventral side of the snake or on his body? Does he have radiant heat (such as a lamp) or UTH (heating pad or other under tank heat source?).

Post a pic if you can.

I'm guessing if it is a few inches down from her head, that since snakes don't lay on the ground upside down, that it's not a burn. Just a guess though until you post a pic.

The only way it could be a burn is if the heat lamp or pad is exposed. If it is, then its possible, if not then its not.

Pics would be the best to say forsure

Sorry guys I don;t have a digi cam yet but will in 10 days so i'll post a pic then. No, her heat lamp is not exposed its above the mesh top so thats why i'm confused about what could of caused it. Also i know for sure it's not a retrained shed as she's always shed in one piece. I guess will just have to wait until i buy the digi cam in 10 days thx.
