Question about lighting

I was just wondering how much daylight a BP should receive. I keep my BP in a rubbermaid in the basement and their is hardly any light in there. Should I leave on a light or what? Thanks for answering this ridiculous question

Well im by no means an expert- but I guess a little light a day would be nice. I dont know how much they "need," if any- but giving them some light for a normal 10-12 hours a day just to simulate the actual days and nights might be nice. They might be perfectly happy with no additional lighting. Mine just uses the natural light as there are windows where he is.

Wait for all the gurus to answer ya though- im probably way off. If it was me though, I would want them to have a little light cycle.

Though I've never read anything about ball pythons needing a light cycle, I try to give my balls some light. I just leave the blinds open in their room, along with the room light for 10-14 hours a day, depending on season. It can't do them any harm.
