Not eating ... it's a weird situation
Max ... what a guy (and oh so ready to breed Trace ... got wicked fired up when I showed him Leon today). So he is living in a 100 gallon reptarium (4 feet high) with fairly dense greenery (but not so much that you cant see him .. most of the time he is visible). My big problem is feeding. He refuses to eat out of a bowl, so it is guesswork how much he is actually eating. I put between 7-15 crix in a day (up cause of Trace) and I cant find any at the end of the day. However, many jump to the bottom of the cage imidietly and them usually dont go back up to the top where he will eat them (he hates the bottom). I am not finding any out of his cage, but the weird thing is that he seems to be slowly losing weight which I can not understand??? Any suggestions?

does he eat from your hands? if so, try hand feeding him a majority of the crickets. and if he is losing weight, maybe give him a couple extra waxworms to fatten him up a bit.

Maybe you can have a huge feeding bowl that would allow the crix more crawling space...just a suggestion.

try moving the bowl around, try a cup, hand feeding, put the bugs on the screen, give him some other food items to get him out of strike mode, eat one in front of him so he knows that you're not trying to poison him, etc.

Thanks for your posts.
Kid - sorry to say he doesnt' ... picky little bugger.
Huhet - I tried that this morning and what did the crickets do? Jumped off the screen LOL. As for 'strike' mode .. he definitely isnt. Its more the crix being in front of him when he is hungry.

Well I decided since I have tried most other things, maybe eating a cricket wouldt do any harm. It seems my family got a good laugh about it, but he still cant find his pesky bugs.
