probing depth?

Hey.. my girlfriend and I are at a loss on the sex of our newest ball. The ball is about 2' long and about 300-400g. i probed it and the probe went in 7 scales... Its a lot deeper then any of our other females have probed, but not as deep as any of our males.. For the experienced probers out there, what gender would you best guess?

Thanks a bunch

if your probing, yet don't know how to tell the sex, isn't that dangerous?

I would say male. Females I have probed, have only gone in 1-4 scales. That's my guess..

I would say male as well but make sure you probe both sides. There can be a difference in depth from one side to the other.

It is one thing to know how to do it, but its another thing to be able to interpret some inconclusive results.

ball python probing can be tricky. I have a friend who probed a ball and thought it was a male, (7 scales deep I beleave) and it ended up laying eggs the next breeding season.
I'd try to re probe it or get someone else to try to see if they get the same results.
