Tay, Broad spectrum lighting does not brighten the snakes colour itself, but brightens it for viewing and photography. The colours in the light just bring out the colours for filming/viewing just like natural sunlight will. I don't use any lighting for my boas since they are all living it up rubbermaid-style LOL...hope that helped, I don't think I did a great job of explaining though
