Nice king there. Always under the last thing that is flipped also it seems.

I found this beautiful Eastern Kingsnake. Not a bad start to the herping season since it was the exact species I was looking for.

I find this to be rare for me usually. When I go out looking for a certain snake, it seems I miss the bus more times than not. I now just hope for the best.
Field herping is back in season finally...and it surely is welcome. The few times I have gone out thus far, I just went on promising days hoping to just see what was about, with limited time to look. Oddly, this seems to bring the best luck for me. I found a pyro, way deep down in a huge rock out cropping, between some massive boulders in a crack. I was actually hoping to find some Canyon tree frogs in an area I have not seen them for some time, and did not expect the king at all. I found some frogs here last year, so this was my goal this time as well. I think this may be the earliest pyro sighting I have had also. Pretty nice surprise.....
