It's the hue. The first indicator of this is that the wood is blue.

look closer to the wood there are small spots where the wood shows natural color. maybe this person did dye the wood. I read an article somewhere someone (a breeder) was working on a true blue color morph so the only color they used was a shade of blue. I have a hard time believing this theory but i guess only time will tell.

You can't really have a blue crestie, they just don't create blue pigments or something like that that sounds more sophisticated :P

A blue-hued one would be awesome though

The wood hasn't been dyed. It's manzanita wood that's had the bark stripped off, and I too have had it turn out looking blue when a photo is taken in poor lighting and then I tried to correct it in Photoshop. Those are the kind of photos that I just delete.

Anyone that works with computer graphics for a living can tell that the hue/saturation/contrast are off. It could be due to poor lighting, or it could be due to manipulation in a graphics program such as Photoshop.

As for the gecko looking blue, I don't think it does. It's just that the extra blue in the photo makes it difficult to tell how much brown the animal has.

There is no such thing as a truly blue Crested Gecko. Some have a steel grey background that can appear blue in photos, but that's it. Here's an accurate photo of one of those geckos, taken in proper lighting.
