I have been using them for over 4 years, and they have yet to break down, unlike my reptile heat pads which only lasted a short while.

My collection is getting to the point where I have to think about costs as well as the needs of the snake. As such, I'm looking into flexwatt (actually I just obtained some, just need more clips), both for creating individual heat pads (11") and long rack strips (3"), because the flexwatt itself is cheaper, it uses far less energy, and best of all - gives me COMPLETE control over temperatures, not just a choice of 3.

Well with human heat pads you don't have a choice of three. You controll it 100% percent with a thermastat same way you would flexwatt. I can have a 85 hot spot, a 90 or 92...whatever. So for control when used with a thermastat or control device, it works perfectly.

I have never even had a slight issue. But again millions of things work, and ANYTHING can cause a fire.
