trhat's cat litter isn't it, and if it is NO!! do not use cat litter as substrate. use paper or bed a beast or aspen shavings...

Carefresh is not cat litter.
Carefresh is actually one of the best substrates out there. For high humidity species it holds water well without mold, and for other species it can be flushed down the toilet.
Its more expensive but yes you can use it.

It is great - we use Carefresh or Soft sorbant (both paper based particle litter) for all our snakes now and the young ones do fine on it. It is quite absorbant, very easy to spot clean and while it doesn't look as natural as aspen - it is a great, safe litter. Too bad it is quite expensive,

i bought mines at petco. i think there about 6 dollars a bag. right now theres a special buy 2 get 1 free. if you have a p.a.l.s. card

I have only heard good things about Carefresh. It is more expensive, but that's relative anyway. If you have only a few animals, I think it would be a great substrate. I am thinking of buying a "bulk" shipment this year myself. Some of the "bigger" breeders (Terry Dunham--Albino Tricolors) use care fresh I believe. Heck-if it's good enough for a snow honduran, I imagine it would be fine for my measley milks  Shop around though, I've seen quite a difference in pricing from shop to shop. I know places like Petco have it. Try a bigger feed store.
