Israeli Dune Gecko??
I heard about these neat geckos called Israeli Dune Geckos. The scientific name is Stenodactylus sthenodactylus. If anyone breeds these geckos, can you please leave a reply or email me? And if you know, are Stenodactylus sthenodactylus or Israeli Dune Geckos good lizards and what are the usual prices?

Very hard to find here. They are fairly easy to keep if you have some experience with rarer geckos. Not for beginners though. You may want to contact Neil Meister. He may have them or know someone who does  He's on that "other" site.

These are great geckos to keep! Very active and if you are quite enough you can sometime hear them vocalize. They are a very easy gecko to keep and great choice for beginner if you can find CB. Here is a care sheet by Neil Meister http://gekkota.com/html/stenodactylu...odactylus.html You would not go wrong with a group of these funny little guys. As for prices I have seen them $15 to $25 for WC and up to $40 for CB (way to cheap IMO) If you can get fresh imports in real good condition they are not to hard to acclimate.

And here are a few imports, little skinny but they fatten up pretty quick

Where abouts are you importing from? Those look so healthy! I was wondering who captive breeds them cause I never see any for sale. What temps are you keeping them at? Sorry for all the questions, but everyone has said they are hard to keep and I would love to find some breeders. Any info would be great and very much appreciated Great pics too.

aftgurl- I wouldn't consider these a good gecko to handle. They look very fragile and I have heard their skin tears easily. I would consider them a display gecko and a good one at that. I have never really handled mine though so who knows.......
Julie- Wow nice to find someone so interested in these guys! It seems there is not much interest in them at all, price?
I got these from Grant and got to pick the best looking ones out of a tank full.
As for temps I keep them around 90 give or take as my house temps fluctuate quite a bit. I do not have any heat on at the moment. To get the full effect of how active these guys are give them as deep a substrate as possible. You will be amazed how much sand they can move in 1 night.
Hopefully I will have some available this year. I would love to send you some just to get more people keeping them. I will try to get a updated pic to show how fat they actually get.

dune geckos
i have petri not s. stenodactylus. i think they are fairly easy to keep. i paid $30 each for my wc trio. a friend of mine has produced some cb this year.

Thanks Sean. I must say I love most every gecko, but tend to be the fondest of those that everyone else ignores! It would be fantastic if you breed them and we could work something out. I love the avatar pic you have. Albino pictus? I breed those cute little buggers. Another gecko that doesn't get the respect they should. As for moving sand, I have teratoscincus so I know about the nightly mountain building/deconstruction routine Thanks for all your help!

I hope I hatch more out to, the worst part is just digging the eggs up without breaking them. I lost 3 clutches just from breaking the eggs before ever getting them to the incubator LOL.
I would love to see a pic of your albino if you have one. Unfortunately I have my doubts about mine ever reproducing. He is a very large male and doesn't seem to like the girls. He has already killed one female he was placed with. I am currently growing 3 other females as large as possible, so hopefully I will have better results. Got any super big females you think can take this guy on? (LOL)

Super big females? Nope, they are all average at 5 1/2 inches. I recently lost one of my het albino females too. I had the egg problem when I first started with the pictus. I felt so bad every time an egg busted. So, I switched them to paper towel and placed several small tupperware containers filled with vermiculite in the cage. After the females go in to lay eggs I just place the whole container into my incubator after removing most of the vermiculite. Worked like a charm. We're getting a digi soon so I will post lots of pics when we do. I have lots to show off Thanks again Sean!
