Quick Question

I got a little bit of money for X-Mas, and i found something to spend a little bit on.

Since the ficus tree in neo's cage (veiled cham) is dying(i guess it's not getting enough light). I went out and bought a new light fixture. It holds 2 bulbs, 1 bulb is going to be a 5.0 uvb light (zoo med or exo terra) and the other bulb is a plant light bulb. The thing is i want to get it put up asap , because the plant is dying. I don't have a 5.0 uvb light that is 24" long (the size of the new fixture) and both petsmarts are sold out until tomorrow. Will neo be ok without a 5.0 for one day? I think he would be but still would like to know.

Trace- WOO HOO i got $70.00 in Borders book store gift certificates so i'm buying that book you told me about. Natures hidden jewels- Chameleon Paradise. If that's the name i remember you told me. I can't wait, the only bad thing is they will have to order it so it's going to take a few weeks.

Thanks everyone.

Jamie

Yes!

And the book is: Chameleons: Natures' Hidden Jewels. Petr Necas. ISBN: 1-57524-137-4. Krieger Publishing. You are going to LOVE this book.

Cheers!

I think it really depends on your husbandry and knowing the history of your animal. To use my chameleons as an example, I've had Calypso since he was a baby and he has lived with the best conditions (I hope) all his life. If his UV light broke and it took me a week to replace it, I think he would be fine. Now, some of my chameleons are these sad rescue cases that never had UV access in their lives until I took them on so I would prefer that they constantly stay under a UV source because their health is so sketchy to begin with. For this reason I always have a spare ballast and UV tube laying around the house in case of emergencies and I replace my bulbs on a regular basis.

Cheers!

Trace thanks again, Your such a great help!!!!

I figured he would be ok since it was only for 1 day, but would like to double check. You know since we have all these great informitive people on this site. YEA!!!! it's all set up and we tested it real quick (neo was sleeping) it looks GREAT. I think Neo will be happier and hopefully his ficus tree won't die on me. My damn brown thumb!!!! LOL

I have extras laying around for my beardies, but they weren't the correct size. That's usually how my luck goes.

Thanks for the correct book title also Trace. I knew it was somewhere along those lines, but my puter had to be wiped out so i lost all my bookmarks and the link to amazon to buy it was gone. I'm going by Borders tomorrow to order it, I can't wait. I don't think i have ever been this excited to get a book before.

Thanks again

Jamie

Ya, Trace is our one-stop-chameleon question answerer... or well you get it. She has helped me lots since my addiction began. Hello My name is Garrett, and I'm a chameleonholic. 'sign' It's not so hard now. I've learned to accept it. Now, if only my wife could be infected with chameleonholicism.

'me smiles'
Cheers
