LMAO!!! Consumers Distributing! Now there is a blast from the past. Oh man, paging through the catalogue, filling out the cards, waiting for your product from the back.

Thanks for the memories!

A great place to get supplies when I was in Minnesota was Menards. Really cheap pet screen, substrate, building material, etc etc. They had tons of crap, and cheap as well. Plus, it gave me an excuse to drive to Duluth and check out the cool herp shop there, although it later closed...sh!tty day that was.

Since a few of us, myself included, seem to be reliving their childhoods through this thread, I have a few words to say to you:

The Ponderosa SteakHouse
Red Barn

When I located mine, I just asked an employee where the thermometers were.

I agree a lot of the Canadian stores are falling victim to American ones but I have yet to find a Canadian run organization that is as diverse as Walmart... I remember when the Woolco around the corner from my house closed down. It was a sad day.

Ponderosa is still alive and well. There are a few around Nova Scotia. Except the one in Truro, it burned to the ground a year or two ago, what a mess!

Atlantic Wholesalers/Superstore is trying to compete with Walmart but I doubt they will be able to, They sell clothes and furnature and stuff like walmart would have, but they just can't match the prices. Luckily they are mainly a grocery chain and Walmarts around here hasn't expanded much past the milk/eggs

Walmart is the perfect example of how great our govnt system is.

You open a store in hopes of being sucessful, you undersell everyone else, you get big, you get rich. Thats what its all about. Its the American dream.
