tokay geckos

tokay gecko's are an awesome gecko i have an adult pair who havnt bred for me yet but hopefully i will get soem egg's soon here is a picture of the adult male

Humm i have been interesten in tokays i think they are the great gekos.. can i ask some questions...

are they nocturnal?
what set up is needed for them?
they eat crix mealies ect right?
what is the diffrence between a aborial and non aborial gecko?

Tokay gecks are naturally defensive, mouth gapping and biting may occur.. Although they are common in petshops, to me they are still a neat looking gecko. Really cool coloration. They do eat somewhat a lot of food. I even know of herpers that purchased them to only let them loose around their homes to take care of the loose crix. A tall arboreal style tank should be preferred over short ones, with plenty of places for them to climb and hide. I feel this generally goes for any arboreal species of geck, lizard, snake, etc. I never got them due to the fact that I like day geckos better, heh . Plus they eat a whole lot more. They are as well a gecko not prone to do well with handling. They are a nocturnal species, therefore they are not seen as often with a set-up with lots of vegitation and such, even with their larger size. They also do make noise, which is where the name Tokay came from. There call sounds like the name, respectively. All in all, pretty cool geckos in my book.

wellll personaly i prefer tokay geckos and youdo see them quite often like when your feeding them or anytime after there lights are off they are realy easy to spot in there cage during the day becuse well they are 14 inch's long and its not to easy to hide that much gecko. and they are very agressive you can calm them down though with lots of work. and they will eat preety much anything thing that moves that they can fit in there mouth

I have a glass cage here with screen top and one side screen doore its
1'deep x 2' wide x 3' high
would this work for a tokay or when they were bigger would they need more room then this...? what kind of humitity do they require?

what is the diffrence between a aborial and non aborial gecko?

arborials are able to climb vertically like the tokay gecko. non arborials stay on the ground like leopard geckos

I ment in structure like i notice that some have round pads on there feet does that help with climbing ect... by looking at one can u tell the diffrence. its ok i was just curious.

i took my new tokay out yesterday and he seems to like my shoulder alot. he sits there and just stares art the tv. he only snaps or bites at me when i touch or grab him the wrong way. i love him alot.

the structure of those padded feet are like velcro. not suction. there's trillions of microscopic 'hairs' that kinda cling on to rough surfaces. yep glass is pretty rough on the molecular level. and i dunno if this has to do w/ arboreal but they seem to be more tropical and thin tailed

wow my Tokay runs at my hand if i put it in his tank doesnt bark at all and only comes out if the tv is off

my friend has one that he's wanting to get rid of. his gf is freaking out cuz she's getting ready to have a baby and doesnt want any reptiles in the house. she's weird, but anyway...
i dont know much about them, but id rather it end up with us than back at the pet shop. he's very aggressive, barks and bites everytime you stick your hand in the tank, so i dont know about it. its never really been handled other than him taking it out to clean the tank. any info anyone can give me on them would be appreciated.
