when i lived in alabama some 3 years ago i noticed that sometimes tiny black scorpions not even an inch big used to show up in our basement. anyone know what kind of scorp lives in the south or around alabama?

Hrm. No clue. But when I lived in the Grand Canyon we had these little ones...the littles ones were supposed to be the most poisonous.
Glad we don't have any here in Louisiana!

Maybe a species of Sun Scorpion. Eremobates gladiolus.

Try a search engine for pics.
