Finally!! (G. luii pics)
I wanted the species Goniurosaurus luii for years. Finally, last year at either the spring or fall show in Calgary (I don't remember which!) I was finally able to get a pair. They were nervous, WC, and in rough shape.
It took a while, but they put on weight, lost the layers of unshed skin, etc etc.
Finally, I got some eggs from them. I hovered over them like a hawk for about the 60 days they were incubating..hehe.
Anyway, the first one hatched this morning. Still waiting on the other egg. I'm just a little bit excited.

For those not familiar with this species - yes, those eyes are bright ruby red!

Thanks for all the compliments, everyone.
This species is from China, though at the moment I can't remember their distribution.
They are a shy, almost neurotic, humidity loving species that prefer cooler temperatures.
Unless you are a night owl, you will never see them. And when mine notice I'm there, they bolt!
Acclimated WC animals and CB animals are really not that hard to take care of, in my opinion.

What temperature range to you keep them at?
I've read that they like it cool - nothing over 80 F, yet others say up to 85 F. There's also disagreement on low temps - everything from mid 60s to mid 70's, and even some sheets say not lower than 75 F. It almost sounds like they either have a very big temperature range, or a lot of the care sheets don't have the right info.
If you could help clarify that for me, I'd be very happy.

I've noticed that they really, really dislike warm temps for too long. When it got warm here, and this place got to like 85°F for a few days, they were really lethargic. I sprayed them with cool water frequently.
So it seems to me that while they hate warm temperatures, they can handle cool temperatures quite well.
For example, before I moved, the room they were in could dip into the low 60s. They were still very active at night.
I think they also shed poorly when kept warm. You will notice a lot of people, when selling these, their geckos have flakes of dead skin all over them. I'd suspect it's a combination of keeping them too warm and not humid enough.
Currently, I keep all of mine at a room temperature of 70-75, and they are doing very well.
Hope this helps.
The second one is hatching...I'll have some interesting pictures to put up soon.
