Momma Rat TOO small

This weekend I bought a second female for my breeding colony. Due to horrible selection, I bought a female with 3 babies. I am pretty sure she had a few more, but it was definately a small litter.

My concern is that mom is too yound to have had babies. She is about half the size of what I would consider breeding her at. She must have been in with the boys at the store. Anyway, Is it possible to keep her isolated, and have her pack on the pounds when she is done nursing her last 3 babies? My hope is that I can get her up to a healthy size before a let her mate again. I am not sure if now maybe she will have stunted growth or something.

Thanks,
Nic.

I would suggest getting the weight on her before breeding again definately a good idea.
As for isolating her to do that you may have a hard time re-introducing her to the colony again.
Do you not have a few about her size and not ready to breed yet?
If you do it would be a good idea to keep her with them until they are all ready to breed.
