Arrow Reason #1369 Why I Hate Cats...

Well, as many of you know, Little ******* causes me much grief. He's too smart for his own good. Neat that he does all sorts of tricks for treats like a dog would, but he's got all sorts of his own tricks too He is the master of opening things and getting in to trouble. He can open latches (the reason why I will never have any cage with those turning locks on them), he knows how to open doorknobs thank goodness he cant get a good enough grip on them though, and all sorts. Well I luckily had my tortoise out with me the day the cat figured out how to open aquariums. I get a phone call from my sister "Is the tortoise with you???" I told her he was and she let out a sigh of relief. I asked her what was up. Turns out she heard all this ruckus coming from my room, she goes up only to find my cat has found himself a new home

She kicks him out and puts the lid back on. Little while later....more ruckus...

He went on to do it over 4 times before we arrived back home. Ugh! He makes me want to rip my hair out! Seriously too smart. Only thing he hasn't figured out a way in to are rubbermaids, racks, and custom enclosures. All of which are kitty-proofed. You wouldn't think he could get in to that setup though! Any of my small racks I will be making in the future will require a kitty-guard on them for sure. Thought I would share these pics, as they are rather funny, as bad as the situation is. Apology for the pic quality.

LOL... my snakes don't have lids since they are either in rubbermaids or custom enclosures, and the big snakes are under lock and key or deadbolts My cat is smart, but not smart enough for that

That is one smart cat!! Thankfully, my cats haven't figured out how to get into the tanks... although my fat cat does enjoy sitting on top of them sometimes Which is why the ones he can get to have the really really strong wire lids on them... lol... Below is a pic of his one and only adventure into a tank -- which was unoccupied at the time, as I was just in the process of setting it up. For size reference, it was a 10 gallon

I love cats, but they certainly do have their moments!

Damn cats! The place I'm living right now has a cat named Demented (for good reason) and he is never allowed in my room because he can open drawers and would easily be able to get in my rack and I am already worried for my poor little Pueblan she got out a day or 2 ago and I have come to the realization that I am either going to find her or the cat will find her for me and that is no good at all. My old cat Ziggy used to pretty much live with my BCI cause once or twice a day I would find him in his cage sleeping with him which was rather surprising to say the least cause the snake could have easily made a meal of him.

Ya our cat likes to try an get into all our tanks, and the rabbit cage to.......the rabbit cage is about the size of a 40 gal tank, we also have a 10 gal tank (corn snake) 20 gal tank (female bp) and the 40 gal tank (male bp) she seems to like to jump up on the corns cage seeing as the corn is about 10 times more active than the bp's!!!! We get up atleast 10 times a night yelling at the cat to get off of the cage.........

Linds-----------: is your cat in your room and stays in your room all the time? not let out of your room for anything? Ours is for her health reasons, and we make sure to leave plenty of kitty toys out for her!!!

He lives in the room with me and all my snakes so he sees all of them. Any time I am working with any of them he goes in his crate. I'm not about to take any chances. They are like really big, self-animated pieces of string to him He's a fearless cat that doesn't learn his lessons. He's had run-ins with the dogs and doesn't learn, he's fallen off the railing from upstairs in to the ceramic tiled hall on the first floor 4 times and never once landed on his feet and still goes up there. The only thing that wards this cat off are babies... he doesn't like kids at all

My cat spends most of his time in the room due to the fact that one of the dogs thinks its his mission on earth to kill the kitty and another of the dogs is terrified - soon as he sees the cat he runs under the nearest pieces of furniture growling and snarling and the cat chases him and corners him, and has been bit and still doesn't learn. He gets to run around the house when the dogs are outside or locked in a bedroom, but he doesn't like to stay out for much more than an hour at a time.... he ends up back at my door wanting to go back in. He has an abundance of cat toys, and he plays with ALL my stuff , and also plays with the spiny mice... they love playing with him too! He also gets to go in my parents room for hours at a time whenever I need him out of my hair for cleaning or whatnot. Their room is enormous.....the entire half of the upstairs.

spiny mice???? I know what you mean, we could give her every toy imaginable (sp?) only to come home and find that she has tipped over the change jar and tried counting the change "her way" or that our socks are out of the drawers,or that our rabbits hay feeder is knocked on to the floor with all the hay every where, of course though that means she would have had to try and taste the hay, so it's everyelse to, like on the bed!!! only our cats name is Teagan (tee-gun).........so about every couple of hours at night the rest of the people in the house hear...........teagan get down! TEAGAN GET DOWN NOW!!!!!!! etc......etc......and usually around 2-7 am she does this.......I agree jay76.....shoulda named her dammit since thats what we call her most the time........should be the universal name for cats...dammit get over here!!!! lol........
