wow, the male (?) is so bronze.
i assume you're just keeping one in each tank. a 40gal should be okay for a full-grown bp, but if you don't have a limited budget, you could always spring for a 75?

A 33 gallon is big enough for an enormous bp, so if you don't want to spend the money to upgrade, don't do it because you really really don't need to. If you want to get a larger tank i would keep it at a 40 gallon for now.
