Just a thought??
This is actually aimmed at Jeff. Why don't we have an emergency forum?? ( I do know we already have a lot of forums, that are awesome) I noticed a lot of people (myself included) use the general discussion forum to post their emergeny's. I know we do have chat but it takes a while to get into. Well it does for me at least. Anyway it's just a thought, because then we would have somewhere, where it'll get noticed and hopfully get a reply to quickly.

sounds like a good idea. it definitely couldn't hurt to have a place where, if we see a new post, we know it needs immediate attention.

We had this brought up in the past, and the reason we didn't go ahead with the idea was due to the fact that it would probably be abused. How many times do you click on a thread titled "URGENT!" "IMPORTANT!" "EMERGENCY!", only to find that it is nothing even close, often even things such as what to name their new pet. The concensus back then was that it would be an abused forum, and really, most of the other forums would get hit just as fast. The people you would likely need advice from are the ones that would be browsing the specialized forums

If it's a real animal emergency you should be seeing a vet.

Well yes you should take it to the vet. But for such things like my nephew got bit by his corn snake way back when I knew nothing about herps. I kinda knew that they were not harmful, but I wanted to know for sure. Things like that could be posted there. Or if your a new herper and your snake or lizard does something funky you get worried panic so you come here for help. Although I do agree that it could get abused and understand why there is not one but I still think it's a good idea.

Yeah but people will answer a post just as fast in the cornsnake forum as they would in some "emergency" forum. Besides, lets say you have a cornsnake emergency, who do you want reading the post mostly? People who keep no corns, or just a couple corns but whos interests are elsewhere? Or on the corn forum where you know you will have the right answers, from corn people.
Besides, how fast can a "emergency" be handled over the internet forum? LOL just as fast as asking in the species forum
Its a cool idea, I just personally think it would be a waste of space in the long run. Then again this is IMHO.

we need a joke forum.
her's one to start u off
One day Little Johnny's mom was cleaning his room. In the closet, she found a bondage S+M magazine.
This was highly upsetting to her.
She hid the magazine until his father got home. When Little Johnny's father walked in the door, she irately handed the magazine to him, and said, "This is what I found in your son's closet."
He looked at it and handed it back to her without a word.
Several minutes passed, then she finally asked him, "Well what should we do about this?"
Little Johnny's dad looked at her and said, "Well I don't think you should spank him."
cheers
paul
