Guru is only half the story. Premeir is D-O-P-E! The man's got skillz! I caught them in Vancouver a ways back.

bleh... Premiers instrumentals are pretty nice but he uses the same drums alot and they all kind of sound alike... He has his own style for making beats and alot of newer producers are biting his style, but he needs to expand his talents more... So hes tight, but there are alot more talented producers like the neptunes who are use a wider array of sounds, and equipment, and not just a mpc2000xl with ripped drums and samples for producing, I like premiers beats over the neptunes but the neptunes are clearly more talented and show a vast variety of talent and not just 1 style of beat production, is what im trying to get at! Sample 4 drums onto the mpc, tap out a bass line, loop some piano or classical music and you got a premier beat...

Neptunes? That's not hip hop(grrr!)...I admit Premeir's beats may be somewhat predictable...but that was the shizz back in the day. That beat is what I grew up with. Maybe its my age, but Nas on a DJ Premeir track is unbeatable in my books.

Slim Shady is my fav rapper, Matt K why dont you like 50? He has some sick rhymes. Im not a huge fan of CDN hip hop, some of it is good but some other stuff is just horrible.

Yea thats true, but if i cant get into the music, i cant really support it. Alternative CDN bands kick *** though, the hip, OLP, sum 41, etc...

Best Canadian Hiphop release to date in my eyes was the Rap Essentials Volume 1. I agree with you on the Nas over a Premier beat :P Actually any semi mono pitch MC can flow dirty over a premier beat... Even Jadakiss sounds nice on them. haha yeah Neptunes isnt hiphop, but i meant to say like any track Pharrel releases with someone else delivering on... I dont even like them personally but the sound is unique everytime and there is alot more time and equipment involved in making those beats. Another nice producer in my eyes is The Alchemist.. Cant sleep on him, he stays in the back burner and doesnt really step into the front like like the other producers but he drops some hot tracks and is probably in my top 3.

its not that i dont like Fifty, i just dont like the whole monotone thing. If you like Eminem, as you say you do, have you heard the Album Infinite??? On that he's sooo unbelievably monotone and its just annoying.. But look how he has come out of that now.. You have to support your Canadian artists dude.. Classfied, Dan-e-o, Monolith and Bishop are the ones i listen to most now. Went to High School with Bishop, its kinda weird hearing him on the radio now.

Yea i heard infinite, its a weird listening to it. Its amazing how far Eminem has come. Bishop and Classfied are sick but its not something that i would go to the store and buy, just listen to it on the radio and muchmusic.

Jadakiss and Nas are not even comparable Lyrically, Nas took it to another level with "illmatic". He was the next step up from Rakim. Eminem was a Nas clone when he first stepped off. Mind you, the first time I heard him was on the Cali Kings mix tape vol.1. I had that track on repeat in my car for like a week. Had no idea he was...uh...caucasian.
