Actually some mature early and some don't. While it should be possible to tell at 3-5 months, some develope later, around 6-8 months, but size has no bearing on this. I have some of my babies who are 7 weeks and they already are quite definately male. They cannot be probed so you need visual confirmation and you need to look for the hemi-penal bulge and pre-anal pores. Pre-anal pores on males are visible just before the vent at the tail base. They are dark dots in a V shape. Females may have them, but they will be tiny and light, sometimes not visible a t all. I hope this helps you out,
Julie B.

Luna is not even two months old and she (?) is already 5 inches long. But I doubt I could tell her (?) sex yet. I look and so far she seems female.
