Incubation medium

i was wondering if anyone else has heard about this. I don't know to much about perlite cause i use vermiculite but i have read this in one of the books i have. all the other books i have read says its ok to use perlite. And i was wondering if anyone else has heard about it.

(Although some breeders indicte that perlite may be used in lieu of vermiculite, it was recently discovered that perlite can emit substances noxious to eggs and can cause either death of the embryo or birth defects in hatchlings.)
