*urgent help needed* Reptile feeding viv cleaning

Hello,

I'm new to this forum. I have a corn and was feeding today in a separate feeding viv. I used beaphar reptile disinfectant when I fed him last week but did not rinse it out so it has been sitting in the feeding viv. I fed my corn this evening. Will this cause any issues with my corn, on the disinfectant bottle, it says its best practice to rinse out feeding bowls.

thanks in advance,
a worried owner

Re: *urgent help needed* Reptile feeding viv cleaning

The company website isn't very helpful, there's no mention of active or inactive ingredients. The instructions included online suggest that it can be used in a vivarium without rinsing it off, so you are probably fine. If the animal can live, breath, lick, and generally have a high level of exposure to the product in a viv then one accidental exposure in a feeding tub shouldn't matter too much.

As an aside, it generally isn't necessary to feed snakes in a separate container. They aren't any more or less aggressive in their cages, and they don't eat better or worse. The snakes may eat a little dirt here and there in the cage but they are designed to pass things like coco coir, soil, and even small amounts of bark/Aspen without issues. The feeding container is usually an unnecessary hassle. If you just like to do it that way there isn't any harm in it, but if you'd heard a rumour about aggression then you can rest assured that it is false.
