Can your enclosure be too big for a boa?

So I have a 4'x2'x2' pvc enclosure and I'm thinking about getting a new boa. I found a beautiful guyana female well started but not a year old yet. I was wondering would it be okay to house her in this container as she grows? I've been producing proper heat gradient and humidity in the enclosure for the past 2 weeks and I'll add more hides probably around 4. Is this a good idea or should I fined a yearling+? I could divide the cage but I have a long heat panel so I can only block about a foot before losing the heat gradient.

It is *almost* impossible to provide too large of a cage for a snake. As you intuited, the keep to using a larger cage is adding lots of cover. You can add cover with hides, as you mentioned; four is a good plan. You can also add as much substrate as you can in the cage (usually around an inch for most PVC enclosures). Additional items likes branches or fake vines can also help.

It depends. I had a ball python in a 4' x 4' x 4' habitat and she almost never came out. I now have a BCI in the same habitat (same basic setup) and it's everywhere in that cage. Constantly exploring.
