Question? Cage To big

So I was talking to the pet store I go to and I said I have a empty 30 gallon and I’m looking at snakes to get at reptile Show a ball python or a Kenyan sand boa he said a Kenyan sand boa should have a 10 gallon so my question is why can’t I do that why can’t I put a Kenyan sand boa in a 30gallon

I don't keep KSBs but I'm a believer that most snakes will do fine in adult enclosures if they have plenty of hides and floor covering. YMMV.

Agreed with Zig. As long as your snake has plenty of cover to feel secure, a 30 gallon is fine. It’s a lot smaller than the wild

When I get a new snake, even very young snakes, I put them in their forever enclosures with absolutely zero problems for the snakes. The only issues are when I start looking for them in two inches of bedding with loads of hides etc. It gives them plenty of places to feel secure.

I would normally agree that you can't go too big on a cage but sand boas can be a little weird. They do sometimes prefer smaller cages. That said, sand boas do well in 20 longs, and a 30 gallon tank is only six inches longer than a 20 long. Your tank should be just fine.

I'd be using smaller at first, mainly for ease of upkeep and personal habit, but if you want to use something that large, if you clutter it up it should be fine. If you get it all set up and have the snake for a little bit and it's settled in but won't eat and husbandry is good, then it may be time to reconsider the size of the cage.

A large cage is easily done with extra clutter. You can start it off in the 10g and move up later with growth.
