Mites or Aspen Dust?

Hello! I am new here and I have a problem. So I have a juvenile California Kinsnake and I've noticed some dust looking specs on her. They are too small to see if they move, but if I run my finger over her it comes off on my hands. It is small and the same color as the aspen.

Re: Mites or Aspen Dust?

Snake mites are dark. Probably just dust, or possibly wood mites which are not an issue.

Re: Mites or Aspen Dust?

I did get a bag of aspen before with wood mites in it but ya they dont look anything like snake mites. With snake mites the color would be dark and snake is usually trying to soak a lot and if they are on your hand and you look very closely you would notice they are moving.
