How to keep live plants in large snakes enclosure

What is the best way to ensure that live plants in large heavy bodied snakes enclosure won't be trampled by the snake and get destroyed? What is the best way to put live plants in such an enclosure?

Re: How to keep live plants in large snakes enclosure

For my boa I ensure there are 'paths' to the various points in the viv she generally uses and lots of branches which she uses and that keep her out of the way of the roots.

Nice mix of coco coir for the substrate and in the new viv I have found a nice cheap 6500k daylight led bulb so will fit 2 or 3 of those for plant growth.

She's not trashed any in her old viv so I don't see why she'll start in her new one.

I don,t think that ball python can be categorized as a large snake. So i was referring to snakes that are larger than a ball python. To be more specific, soon i will be building the adult enclosures for my Boa Constrictor and my Dumerils Boa. These snakes are large heavy bodied.

Just as a friendly advice - use the "Search"-function, almost all your questions so far have been answered already in some place.

Anyway, here is what I wrote in some other threads

I would leave the plants in their pot, at least for the first months. If necessary it is much easier to remove them. You could also cultivate a second set of plants outside your enclosures and your plants within the terrariums could need a “rest” to recover, just replace them with the reserve plants.

My plants are in the enclosures since several years, they do quite well over time. I lost the Ficus elastic in the Gonyosoma enclosure, the roots got too wet over a long time and rot.

I have no experience with heavy snakes like your boas, but combine my information with Dannys and you should be OK.

There is also an interesting book about plants in terrariums
