Flexwatt help

Ok so I am about to pick up an AP cage locally to move a python in. One is the 3ft cage and one is the 4ft. Ill grab whichever is still available. I have used radiant heat panels in the best but have been told recently Flexwatt heat is prefect. Looks like it all comes 11" wide. for length whats the best amount to use for proper amount of hot/cold sides? I thought the rule of thumb was 1/3rd heat but I'm not sure here

I don't know AP cages, but how thick is the bottom of the cage--will the heat get through?

I'm primarily using .75" melamine laminated particle board so I'm stuck with RHPs unless I get the tops opened up for basking lamps, etc. The only way I could use flexwatt would be to put it on the bottom and then put a tile over it, like an internal RHP if I used one.

I think RHPs are the most efficient/effective heat source. I use UTH's with my AP cages which works pretty similarly to flexwatt. My UTH covers about 1/3 of the enclosure. That's a pretty decent sized hot spot imo.

I've used heat panels in the past as well and now being told they are more susceptible to burning and melting? if its on a t stat now sure how that would happen.

Try the Pro Heat RHPs. They're supposedly the safest on the market.
