I feel your pain JR. My S/O gave me a tough time in the beginning too. Bribery worked well for me

. You have to soften them up a little first before springing the new critter news on them. Date nights, flowers, foot rubs, a little extra help around the house. Those things go a long way. You have to be subtle about it though because it can't look like a bribe. It has to appear that you're just being super nice. And then when she's nice and comfy in her happy place that's when you poor on the charm and break out the puppy dog eyes and gently ask, "Honey, can I get a new snake?" It's tough for them to say no when the honey do list is done and you've gone a little above and beyond. It can get progressively more expensive though. I've had to take a trip to the beach and buy a plane ticket to NY for her to visit a friend just to get my last two new snakes. All well that ends well though. Good luck bud!

Lol. Bribery is how I got my snake, waiting about a year before I speak of getting another. (So it is less obvious)

I actually WISH my fiancé wasn't into reptiles, then I would have some form of self control (maybe). We enable each other lol.. but it is nice to have a hand with maintenance and be able to share the excitement with one another
