Re: your snake's name?

I have a wild Texas rat snake I caught as a baby. These snakes are notorious for biting, or as Steve Irwin used to say being "grumpy". So I named it Oscar.( Sesame Street grouch.)

8 years or so later..(give or take, maybe more) Oscar layed eggs. But her name is still Oscar which fits neither her sex nor disposition.(I have picked on her nearly her whole life..not bad...just enough to aggravate her a little). She hates being tied in knots, so it's a favorite game of mine. When she was somewhere around 18", I once managed to get her in 3 knots!

After 15 years or so...she has really caught on to my game though, and at pretty much 5' , even though there's a lot of length there, it's extremely difficult to tie her in more than one. One time, I was picking on her doing something she didn't like, ( don't remember what exactly),and she bit me, just like a dog or cat would : ( so gently it didn't break the skin.)

I have a red eared slider turtle I caught that plucks little dried shrimp out of my fingers for treats. I named it Vin Diesel (fast and furious)...but this guys fingernails have gotten so long I'm changing it's name to Edward. (scissor hands).

I have a betta named Boy George and a cat named Sammy. Everyone on the street knows Sammy and he knows everyone's cars. He lays out in the street, and if they live on the block, he makes them drive around him. If it's a strange car, he gets out of the street.

Re: your snake's name?

Banana BP (m) named Mo after Mo Farah, because he was fast when I got him
Lesser BP (m) called Max after a friend of mine, Maxine, but he's a male so Max
Spider BP (m) called Shannon, who is Maxine's daughter and it can be a male or female name in Ireland
Pied BP (m) named LJ after Laura Trott and Jason Kenny the 2 British Olympic/World track cycling champions
BEL BP (m) named Sam as I like the name
And lastly my female CA x Nicaraguan T+ Sunglow BCI who I have named Val in honour of my wife who passed away with Kidney Cancer on 12 November 2015

And since I lost my wife my snakes have brought me a lot of comfort and peace.

Re: your snake's name?

My piebald ball python's official name is phoenix, but I call him udon (like the noodle). I got him a few days ago, last saturday actually at a reptile expo. I came up with the name a long time ago when I first started wanting a snake.

Re: your snake's name?

Nagini and Bellatrix - I've spent almost 20 years of my life in the Harry Potter fandom. I want to name the next one Salazar.

Not to be a thread Necromancer, but you may be amused by my 2 newest additions names: Salazar Slythin the Hog Island Boa (also known as Slytherpuppy) and Florean Fortescue the creamsicle corn snake. I couldn't resist.

Nunu my sunglow boa was named this because people kept referring to her as the new new snake since I had so many additions at the time.

Vera the black milk was named after Jaynes gun in Firefly.

Roy my albino chinese beauty was named after my favorite character in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Lucky my first boa was named that because I was 12 and damn lucky according to my mother to be getting something that was going to get so big.
I love Firefly!!!!

Re: your snake's name?

Well my corn is Maize for obvious reasons. My luecistic black rat is Luna because she is white like the moon. My ball pythons follow a mobster/old timey feel, Lucky Luciano, Betty, Eden, Bonnie and Clyde. My garters follow a Star Wars theme, Obi, Darth and Chewie. My cribo is Abbath because his face markings remind me of black metal musicians.

Re: your snake's name?

Fang (male normal BCI), our first, came with the name from his previous human. It was cute so we kept it.

Then came Edward (male hypo BCI) and Bella (female normal BCI). Bella was my son's snake, and he has a crush on a girl named Bella at school. The first thing I could think of was Edward, along with Bella (they were purchased on the same day). I did it as more of a joke, but no one caught on, and my husband "approved" the name, so the joke became a reality. No one in the house but me likes Twilight, btw.

Oreo (normal BCI) was the other little girl we purchased a week after Edward and Bella. She was my step son's snake. Unfortunately, 4 months later she passed away. RIP my little Oreo girl.

Then came Tigger (male tiger reticulated python), because he's a tiger, and he's bouncy. And his mate Blossom (female lavender albino tiger reticulated python) 2 weeks later.

Next we have Iris (female albino burmese python). I wanted to name her after a female goddess. Iris is the Greek goddess of the rainbow. It fit with her personality. She's an angel amongst the devils that cared for her, bringing colour and life to our family.

We then picked up Charlotte (female woma python). I looked up authentic Australian names, thinking I would find something aboriginal to honour the country of her descendants, and Charlotte was what came up. Didn't really fit with what I was looking for, but it's a cute name.

After Oreo passed away, the pet store let us pick up a "replacement" for my step son, a super salmon female boa. He named her Alex, after a character in Mindcraft, but he also has a crush on his older sister's friend Alex, so we think that's why he chose the name.

For my birthday, my husband found a breeder of BCAs, and in came Cyclops (male) and Storm (female). Super heroes from X-men. That was completely random.

Our first rescue was named Hope (female poss dwarf BCI). Her previous humans had named her Megan Fox, and that's a big fat NOPE in this house. My step daughter threw out the name Hope. It seems to fit.

And our latest, Hennessy (female BCI). Her previous human named her, and we kinda like the name. She was named after the alcohol, and that's ok.
